I just now, after five years, entered a BG. I mainly avoided because of both character and personal reasons. But I caved in recently and kinda enjoy it sometimes. (Blame that silly "Hallowed" achievement! hehe) <strong>Here's my thoughts:</strong> The "epics" are optional when it comes to RP. You are not "judged" by the gear anyway. Here's some options: <strong>1) Faction/Raid Rewards </strong> You can still raid and not attack the other faction. Even if you don't raid, you do have some options. This way you bypass PvP and still gear up. <strong>2) Ignore Battlegrounds entirely</strong> Since they are instanced mostly with other realms, it really takes you "out of the timeline" for your character. So, you can still "chew health bars", get rewards - and still RP back "home". Even in Wintergrasp, you can just OOCly kick tail and gear up. Then role-play when you are able. She abhors conflict and makes no unprovoked attacks on the Alliance, who she still regards as friends. You also will get spit on and such from folks and Stormwind and no vendors will interact with you in the Elwynn Forest zone. You can however trot over to Ironforge, or fly to Stormwind - you just can't fly from there. You also make some NPCs cringe in your presence sometimes. I was toying with this for a DK rp idea - basically being "unforgiven" by the human capital. I found it a bit "too" good, and opted for another path. Just something to think about. :) One addition:

Because of this mass outcry, I was wary in even attempting. I originally planned to roll a DK just to roleplay in its armor (looking back, I know it would be extremely annoying to constantly emote /me isn't really a death knight). I had already gotten enough disrespect flowing my way for roleplaying a near-immortal lesbian (and still do, sigh...) so I was even more wary. But I did like I always do and instead of taking slams I actually posted on our ER forums to get multiple opinions on how Allein could be an actual Death Knight. This was linked to me and thanks to this particular article I felt that Allein becoming a DK is a lot more viable than I had originally planned.
