Now -That’s- a Fire!
In some RP gatherings, campfires are a great focus area. It provides an “anchor” for people to gather and talk. If you’re not near one - make one! In World of Warcraft you can make your own - even at level 1! Other games may not have this feature, but you can use existing campfires and structures (inns for example) as “anchor” points also - just like we do in everyday life.
So grab some smores… we’re going camping!
Prep:
Grab the Cooking skill from your local Cooking Trainer. Learn /Train Apprentice Cooking as one of your Secondary Skills.
Where, you may ask? Check in the Starting areas and towns nearby.
Here’s a great link from WoWWiki:

Materials:
Head to your Trade Supplies and/or General Supplies vendor and get these cheap goodies:
With me so far? Smokin!
Next… look in your “Spellbook” where all your skills and such are at the bottom of your UI (User Interface). Look at the list for these two icons:
Drag the Basic Campfire to a Action Bar slot for later use, or know where to get to them when you need them if you rarely will use them. If you have the Flint and Tinder and some Simple Wood - we can make a fire. To do so, just right-click on the Basic Campfire icon.
“Aiming” a Campfire
You will notice when you create a campfire, it’ll appear not in front of you and sometimes it’s hard to “aim” this. But there is hope. Check out Shaw’s attempt in the following example:

Ok, Shaw’s been practicing, and he has a decent idea of where it falls. You can get an idea from trying a few times. For Shaw, it’s up at a 45 degree angle from his shoulder. Eyeballing the distance, you can get a decent idea of where it will land. Let’s see what happens…

There we go! Here’s an overhead view:

You will get the hang of it after a while. The target area is consistent, but practice/test first to see what works for you. Campfires like this also gives a small buff to your Spirit and you can cook goodies from your Cooking skill.
Note: A campfire lasts 10 minutes, so bring extra wood for outings. Building a Campfire has a cooldown as well, so you cannot crank them out instantly, so do your best to line it up. Use the terrain as a guide to remember where you stood and “aim” away.
Locations: Be mindful where you use this. Smack dab in the middle of a Cathedral would not be the wisest place. Think of where you would make a campfire in everyday life and use common sense.
Good luck and happy camping!

One thing I have noticed about this - so here’s a head’s up.
Pets and structures can offset the final placement of your fire. Even other fires. *grumbles*
