The Zen of Immersion

Immersion… one of the most sought after things for a role-player. It’s also one of the hardest things to find in almost all of the MMORPGs you see.
What is immersion anyway?
I’m going to give you a little advice. There’s a force in the universe that makes things happen…
It’s that “seemless” feeling in a game world. Like being in the “zone” – no distractions and focusing on your character, the roleplay at hand, and having a good time (hopefully) in the progress.
Sometimes it’s easy… other times not so much.
…and all you have to do is get in touch with it, stop thinking, let things happen, and be the ball…

Networking: RP Chat Channels

Role-playing is a social venue, it’s really hard to RP with just yourself. Hence finding other role-players is a goal when you get everything fleshed out and ready. Building relationships between role-players is important too, which is sometimes hard to do when you get started.
Using a flagging program helps, as does being in character in locations. Still, you may have problems finding events and other role-players. You may also have questions regarding role-playing.
You could try General Chat, or brave the “colorful” atmosphere of Trade. But maybe there’s another useful and rp-friendly way to accomplish this.

What’s Lore Got To Do With It?

For new and old players making new characters, a backstory (or player background/history) helps define things and gives direction. A sometimes neglected part of this to consider is game lore.
What is game lore anyway?
It’s a mixture of knowledge and details that make up the game world, defines it and gives direct…
Sounds familiar? It’s like a backstory to the world. History, details and the like.
Ever started watching a possible great movie from the middle? Feel kinda lost until you get the story and the characters straight, right? The same basic idea can happen if you ignore the game’s lore. Things may not fit or make sense until you get more information.
